"Zacisze" Cultural Center

Date:

Competition design for the concept for the extension of the Zacisze Cultural Center in Warsaw

Visualizations: Krzysztof Kowalik

Location: Blokowa 1, Warsaw, Poland

The main idea of the project was strongly connected to the name of the center - "Zacisze", what means „a quiet place”.
Due to the vicinity of Radzyminska Street and its proximity to a playground and recreational area, we decided to reorganize the whole space and retract the existing square so as to create a sheltered and quiet place in front of the main entrance.
It gives the place an opportunity to become vibrant and attractive for all generations of users, keeping an appropriate level of intimacy. The stairs, formed from wooden landings, can become both a cafe bench and an audience for a summer stage.

The existing building of the Cultural Center was renovated and extended with a new building so that both cubatures have a uniform architectural and urban layout.
The new part of the building provides a theater hall, bigger art space, additional workshop rooms and a multifunctional space intended for temporary events.
